San Vito Lo Capo’s famous Cous Cous Fest
Since 1998, every year in San Vito Lo Capo there is an essential event for those who believe that food unites people and their cultures. Twenty years ago, this typical dish from Maghreb was unknown to the rest of Italy, while the proximity of Sicily has allowed cous cous to find a second home to inspire other people and create innovative recipes.
The Cous Cous Fest aims to celebrate a simple ingredient and bring it from the Mediterranean to the rest of the world. Indeed, this festival has been so successful that it has gone beyond gastronomic significance to become a festival of cultural integration, attended by ten delegations from all four continents. The days of the festival thus become an opportunity to meet, compare ideas, celebrate and enjoy good food, all framed by the beautiful natural reserve of San Vito Lo Capo.
This year's Cous Cous Fest will be held from 17th to 26th of September and there will be plenty of excitement! Every day from midday to midnight, it will be possible to taste international couscous recipes on the beach or traditional Sicilian recipes in the Giardino del Santuario (with Green Pass). The tasting ticket costs €10 and includes a portion of couscous of your choice, a glass of wine and a coffee, the chance to watch the competitions of the scheduled championships, cooking shows and much more. You can check out the festival programme day by day, so you don't miss out on the events: https://www.couscousfest.it/edizione-2021/.
